Long ago, in a land no one remembers because it may not have existed, there was an object known as the Blovarian Compass. It didn’t point north, south, east, or west—instead, it pointed toward "whenever."
Travelers who followed the Blovarian Compass often disappeared. Some claimed they arrived before they left. Others said they reached destinations that weren’t real until they got there.
One day, a philosopher stole the compass, determined to unlock its secrets. After years of study, he declared,
“I finally understand what it points to.”
Then he vanished.
The compass remained, spinning aimlessly.
